Location: 1st floor Polderhuis museum

On the first floor of the Polderhuis Museum in Westkapelle, the exhibition â€˜Impressions of Walcheren’ can be seen.

Exhibition of the painter Jo Dumon Tak

Jo Dumon Tak was born in 1963 in Rotterdam and has lived in Middelburg since 2000. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam in the early 1980s, but did not complete the program. It was only in 2010 that he devoted himself to a career as a painter and began teaching in his own studio. From then on, he was also the painter of the Panorama Walcheren until 2025, of which a preliminary study of the view of Westkapelle is displayed in the Polderhuis. Unfortunately, the large work of Westkapelle (3.5 x 18 meters) cannot be exhibited.

Dumon Tak sees himself as a chronicler of the Walcheren landscape, painted impressionistically with the eye of a romantic. He often works en plein air and sometimes from photographs. This exhibition presents a versatile impression of his work, ranging from mainly Middelburg scenes to the Manteling, in oil paint, charcoal, and pencil.
