Play between contrast and alienation

Nina (20) comes from Westkapelle, where the surroundings often influence her work. After studying photography for three years, she continues her creative development at the art academy in Rotterdam. In her photography, Nina explores how people relate to each other and to their environment. For this exhibition, she presents photos from different series in which she examines the play between contrast and alienation by placing the everyday in an unexpected context. This results in images that feel both familiar and strange at the same time — unexpected encounters between people and objects within a recognizable environment.

With this approach, Nina invites the viewer to look differently at what seems self-evident and to rediscover the ordinary with a fresh perspective.
